A travers l’histoire de deux villages de pêcheurs indonésiens, le film présente deux façons très différentes de concevoir la pêche. L’une consiste à exploiter la mer sans souci des limites de la ressource, l’autre la gère suivant un mode traditionnel d’ouverture et de fermeture des terrains de pêche. Ce film s’appuie sur un programme de coopération scientifique entre l’IRD et The Indonesian Research Institute on Marine fisheries.
Two very different approaches to fishing are shown through the history of two Indonesian fishing villages. One consists of exploiting the sea without consideration of the limits of the resource and the other uses the traditional method of opening and closing fishing grounds. The film is based on a scientific co-operation programme between IRD and the Indonesian Research Institute on Marine Fisheries.
